The East Oregonian, an award-winning five-day-a-week newspaper in Pendleton, Ore., is looking for a Managing Editor to lead its outstanding newsroom.
Based in historic Pendleton — home to the world-famous Round-Up and woolen mill — the EO is a small town newspaper with a statewide and regional outlook. We serve diverse communities throughout Morrow and Umatilla counties in northeast Oregon, including a branch office in nearby Hermiston.
The EO is one of four northeast Oregon properties operated by the family-owned EO Media Group. The company operates 11 newspapers and 13 websites. Recognized regionally and nationally for its enterprise and excellence, the East Oregonian places a premium on vital local content.
Writing, editing and management experience are essential to this position. At least 5-10 years of professional journalism experience is required, with at least three years of direct newsroom management experience. Successful experience in directing and inspiring staff, superior editorial writing and a passion for community journalism are essential qualifications. Experience in web-first reporting and social media is a plus.
