Ron Waite was named publisher of the Sandusky Register, the flagship of the Sandusky Newspaper Group. Before joining SNG in March, he was a GateHouse Media regional general manager overseeing the Ohio dailies, Record-Courier in Kent and the Alliance Review.

He served in various capacities for more than two decades at Dix Communications, including as senior vice president of advertising for all its newspapers. He began his career with the old Thomson Newspapers chain in Ohio.

Sandusky Newspaper Group also named Bret Jacomet as its vice president of digital sales. He had been the regional vice president for digital revenue for SNG’s Northeastern Tennessee Media Group based in Kingsport, Tenn.

In this role he was instrumental in building up NET360, one of the first newspaper-based ad agencies. SNG said part of his new role will be expanding NET360, which launched in 1997, to serve the ten different markets served by the Sandusky Newspaper Group in Tennessee, Michigan, Ohio and Utah.

Jacomet’s newspaper career includes serving as a regional vice president for digital development with Freedom Communications.
