Sharon Pian Chan is vice president of innovation, product and development for The Seattle Times. The new position brings under one umbrella the newspaper’s innovation in developing non-traditional funding for journalism with its capacity to create new products and services for digital, engagement and print platforms. She also manages Business Intelligence, a group at the newspaper using data insights to drive business. She had been associate opinion editor. She began at the paper as an intern and spent many years reporting on the region’s global institutions such as Microsoft and T-Mobile.
