The Wilson Times’ place in history

Wilson, North Carolina, civil authorities recognized the historic importance of The Wilson Times this summer by dedicating a marker near the site of the newspaper’s original downtown building.

“The Wilson Times is important to everybody who lives in Wilson County,” Rob Boyette, county Board of Commissioners chairman, said at the dedication. “It is a landmark in our county, and it has been so for a long time. It’s how we find out what’s going on and what’s important and how we can help make this county the best that it can possibly be.”

“We — and I’m speaking to everybody who works with me at the newspaper — should be proud of our legacy being the local news source since 1896,” said Wilson Times Co. Chairman and CEO Morgan Dickerman, the newspaper’s fifth-generation family owners.
