Ken Harty has been named publisher of the Fergus Falls (Minnesota) Daily Journal, Wick Communication President and CEO Francis Wick announced.
“Harty brings a track record of successful newspaper operations and engagement with the community. His relationship with the region and local familial ties makes this a very exciting time for him and his family,” Wick said.
Harty is group publisher for Wick Communications. A second-generation newspaperman, Harty joined Wick in October 1992 where he worked in several departments of The Daily News in
Wahpeton, North Dakota, and Breckenridge, Minnesota.
In 2002 he began serving as assistant advertising manager at the Daily Iberian in New Iberia, Louisiana.
In 2006, Harty was the advertising manager of the Daily Herald in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. In 2007 he returned to be publisher of his hometown newspaper in the
Wahpeton/Breckenridge area. In late 2016 he became the publisher of the Williston (North Dakota) Herald.
“I was born and raised in Breckenridge, so I have a strong familiarity with the lakes area and Fergus Falls in general,” Harty said. “I have a lot of passion for the newspaper industry and this area of the country. I look forward to working with the great staff at The Daily Journal and serving the community and surrounding area.”
As a group publisher of Wick Communications, Harty oversees Wick newspaper operations in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Oregon and Montana.
