The Webb family has sold theFranklin Advocate, a weekly in Meadville, Mississippi to Paul and Doris Keane, the owners of the weekly Wayne County Newsin Waynesboro, Mississippi.
Lewis Floyd, a senior associate with the media brokerage Grimes, McGovern and Associates, represented the sellers in the transaction. Terms were not disclosed.
TheAdvocatehas been publishing since 1886, and was purchased by David and Mary Lou Webb in 1962. Their daughters Marsha and Heather took over operations in recent years. They began seeking a buyer to carry on the family newspaper tradition since they both had other careers.
Marsha and Heather said they “are delighted to have found a true newspaper couple to continue the legacy of their parents”.
